Are you sure that you are using a USB-C cable? The phone 15 series does not use a lightning cable if you just upgraded phones. Use the cable that came with the device.

Check your charging port to see if there is something in it such as debris. If so, use a wooden toothpick to carefully get it out. If your cable still won’t go into your charging port, then you should make an appointment at your nearest Apple Store’s Genius Bar or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for evaluation.
Have you tried a different cable? I once had a dog that liked to chew on cables including the metal end.
