Do I need to upgrade my MacBook Air for Microsoft 365?

I have a macbook air 2017. I want to put the new microsoft 365 app on but but i need ios 13 and my mac is running 12.7 and says the software is up to date. Do i need to buy a new mac book to have the latest os?

You have the highest MacOS that your device is capable of running. If you wish to run more recent software, you’ll need a newer Mac.

Just seems such a waste and wondered if there was any way of upgrading the ‘bit’ that allows it be faster or have more capacity? But then thats Apple for you!
