I was wondering if I will lose all of my photos, contacts, or apps if I switch my region from the United States to Canada. This is because I really want to download TikTok on my device. I was genuinely wondering if any data will be removed.

Changing country does not delete any content from your iPhone.
Before you update your location, you must spend your account balance, cancel your subscriptions, and get a payment method for your new country or region.

It certainly is possible. Fraudulent changing your region to download apps that are not available to you is a violation of your user agreement and others have reported that their account has been locked. Your option at that point is to create a new Apple ID and any information from your previous Apple ID will be lost.
You can also see here that to use the App Store in the new region, you may need to provide a payment method for that region and that would likely be something you do not have. The region on your device must match the region for any card added. That is how they make sure you are using the correct App Store.
