I cannot get the latest update by entering the Apple ID--should it be the computer login, instead? Thanks my computer will login to my apple account when using my biometric--but, I do NOT have the Apple password. How do I get all of my Apple Account passwords to be the same on all devices?

To share passwords across devices using the same Apple Account, enable iCloud Keychain.
Set up iCloud Keychain - Apple Support
Passwords are available in Passwords app.
Biometrics are not a substitute for passwords.
Thank you for the reply! In discussing Apple products and updates with friends and colleagues, I have found general agreement that most users are not aware of whether the Apple Account Password is being requested, or if it is the device login password that is required. I am certain there is an easy way to distinguish the correct entry—but, it usually is requested at a time when I am already befuddled! Apple can certainly “fix” this—but, I allow for the possibility that it is ME and I should know! I take comfort in friends and experienced users who admit to the same confusion.
