Biometrics use TrueDepth camera the just projects a 3D pattern on the face to identify precisely an individual’s face.
Some banking apps in countries that don’t support Apple Pay use the front facing camera (selfie camera) to compare a photo to another photo. It’s not biometrics. Photos are not 3D and easily manipulated or tricked.
The banking apps need to be updated to the changes Apple made back in September when iOS 18 was released with new iPhones.
