iPad Pro 2024 now working on super ultrawide

Hi! I’m trying to get my iPad Pro 2024 to work on external super ultrawide monitor. To be precise it’s samsung g9 5144x1440p resolution, 32:9 monitor.

iPad connects but then content on the display is stretched. Like it was trying to stretch 21:9 to 32:9. Resolution seems to be okish but the stretch is unbearable.

Is it just how iPads work on super ultrawide or is there a way to fix it?

Best regards

iPad Pro, iPadOS 18

While iPad can support external 16:9 displays of up to 6K resolution, I’ve not seen any documentation that suggests support for ultra-wide displays.

If you see distorted images when using an external display, ensure that the monitor’s own controls are not set to “fit” (i.e. stretch) video to match the display aspect ratio.

Connect iPad to a display with a cable - Apple Support

You should note that many external monitors require installation of a manufacturer provided driver-software. Unlike Windows PC and Mac computers with which you may be familiar, there is no facility to install independent device drivers on iOS/iPadOS devices.

Your iPad is clearly outputting a standard 3840x2160 (i.e. "4K") resolution. As such, if your monitor is set to "stretch" the image, you will see image distortion across the width of the screen.

If your ultra-wide monitor's "stretch" can be disabled in your its own settings, you should see an undistorted image - but will see blank infill bars to either side of the on-screen image.
