Minecraft multiplayer authentication error on my MacBook Air

I don't know why I can not join multiplayer worlds or my friend's realm. My other friends with mac can join in it no problem. This seems to be a problem with my mac only as I can join it via a different laptop. Changing networks doesn't help and neither did Minecraft support.

I think something is blocking mojang's connection but I can not figure out how to find it. I have my firewall down and have administrative settings on. Can someone please help?

Minecraft, java, and my mac is all up to date

Java … is up to date

① Minecraft Java Edition doesn’t use the separate Java on your computer, but instead has a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) built-in to the app. You could delete the separate Java and it would still run as it should (the error is unrelated).

Your system install of Java 8 Update 441 (assuming that is your version) is not the issue — and most users don’t need it.

② Please check for Java Edition vs. Bedrock Edition mixups. Java Edition players can’t connect to Bedrock Edition Realms, and vise versa. Those are separate universes. Unfortunately, there is no Bedrock Edition for Mac, thus no choice on this.

I have no solutions or procedures to solve it though, if the above doesn’t apply.

What I have tried so far:

  • made sure and check that I have no third party or VPN services (device management is empty in settings)
  • set up a 2nd user with administrative permissions and restarting my mac without logging into iCloud. Authentication error persists
  • download multiMC and launch successfully but multiplayer and realms show the same error
  • uninstall and reinstall both java and minecraft ensuring they are up to date
  • changing networks and configuring IPv4/6 and applying respective changes in the Installer for minecraft
  • tried logging in on a different laptop with the same account is successful though
