USB-C to Lightning Adapter: Issue with Windows PC Connection (USB device not recognised)

Our company is using Windows PC with Apple iPhone as our company laptop and company phone.

  • Windows PC: Microsoft Surface Pro 10 / Microsoft Surface Laptop 6
  • Apple iPhone: iPhone 12 / iPhone 13

We are thinking the best solution of earphone for our company users to have just one earphone. So, we have tried with the below combination, but it is not compatible when we are doing the testing with Windows PC.

  • Apple EarPods (Lightening Connector)
  • Apple USB-C to Lightning Adapter

Once the EarPods with Adapter connecting to the Windows PC, the system shows USB device not recognised.

In Device Manager, it shows problem with the USB Composite Device.

We think it might be some kind of driver missing. We are wondering if Apple has such driver for us to download and install it n Windows PC, so that we can use Apple's EarPod with Apple's Adapter.

Anyone have similar situation or able to offer help to us?

Thank you.

The Apple USB-C to Lightning Adapter is cannot be used to connect devices or accessories with a Lightning connector to a Windows PC. There are, to the best of my knowledge, no device drivers for Windows PC to use this interface converter.

The Apple USB-C to Lightning Adapter facilitates connection of accessories that feature a Lightning connector to an Apple iPad or iPhone that has a USB-C port. To clarify, this Adapter is an interface converter for Apple iOS/iPadOS devices to accept connection of legacy accessories that employ an Apple-proprietary Lightning connector.

Compatibility of this adapter as stated by Apple:

Insofar as published details are available, compatibility information for this Adapter can be found here:
