How do I connect earpods with lightning connector to iPhone 16 (USB-C) using an adapter?

I want to connect my earpods with lightning connector with iPhone 16 (USB-C) by using an adapter, but it does not work. What shall I do?

Connector works as I can charge the phone.

Earpods work as can use them with the older iPhone SE.

earpods usb c iphone 17 compatibility query I wonder whether the USB C EarPods are compatible with the latest iPhone 17? The compatibility page does not list the iPhone 17 series but I cannot see a reason why? Any help and advice would be appreciated.

Ear Pod Adapters from Iphone 12 to iPhone 15, what is the proper adapter that I need. I cann ot connect my old ear pods to the USB port on my iPhone 15. The USB C to headphone jack does not work.

some adaptors only support charging

they one they make themselves claim to support audio too though
