Connecting USB-C EarPods to iPhone 14 that has a Lightning Port

I found an old post (2020) that has the following answer:

”Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Sounds like you are attempting to find an adapter that you can use to connect your USB-C headphones with your lightning port devices, do we have that right? If so, currently Apple does not have an adapter that can perform this. “

My question is:

Is this still true?

I have an iPad Pro -11 inch and am about to order USB-C EarPods to use with it. But I also have an iPhone 14 (lightning) and it would be nice to be able to use them with it as well.

Thanks

P.S. If this can not be done, can someone explain why?

Thanks for your suggestion.

I have explored that path but most of, if not all of the ones I looked at, included statements similar to this:

” ❌[Incompatible List]: It is NOT OTG adapter for microphone, SD card reader, HDMI, Audio, flash drive, u disk, DAC, DJI, yubikey, av, hub, headphones, earphones, pencil, MIDI keyboard, etc”

I am not sure what that all means, but the words “incompatible” and “audio” and “earphones” get my attention. I am also not familiar with OTG. Thus, a big part of the reason for my post.
