Enter Mac Password for Apple Sign in

My user account on my Macbook Pro is linked to a domain account. When chooing the "Sign in" option under "System Settings", I am prompted for my apple ID and apple password. Once supplied and verified using MFA, I am prompted to "Enter Mac Password", which the following message:

"The password you use to unlock this Mac will also be used to access saved passwords and other sensitive data you store in iCloud.

<My Account Name>"

I have entered the password used (domain password) for the user account on my Macbook, however the password is never accepted. Instead, it deactives the process for a certain number of minutes.

I then waited for the number of minutes to elapse, changed my Macbook user password (domain password), restarted the Mac, successfully logged in using the new password, and when I tried the Apple Sign in process again, the password was again not accepted, this time with the additional message "Authentication is disabled."

This is prohibiting me from loggin in to my account using my Apple Watch, as well as accessing my passwords on iCloud.

Please assist.

Thanks for the feedback, however it seems the fact that my user account was linked to a domain, the password used originally on the mac was different from the password used for my domain account which had since required a password update. This domain password update did not seem to update the "local" password that was required.

Since I could login using another admin account, I found and used this script that allowed me to reset the "local" password and recreate my keychain after login:

sysadminctl -secureTokenStatus <account_name_to_reset>
sysadminctl -secureTokenOff <account_name_to_reset> -password - -adminUser <admin_account_name> -adminPassword -
sysadminctl -secureTokenOn <account_name_to_reset> -password - -adminUser <admin_account_name> -adminPassword -
diskutil apfs UpdatePreboot /
