Is charging my iPad overnight, safe?

I heard that one must immediately unplug the device after it is fully charged or the device could get damaged.

Is this true?

I believe the above reply lacked content. How does the device “manage” its charging? This is how “AI” answered my question:

It's completely safe to keep your iPad plugged in overnight. Apple's iPads are designed to automatically stop charging when the battery is fully charged, so there's no risk of overcharging or damaging the battery ¹.

In fact, Apple's own support page recommends charging your iPad every night, even if the battery isn't fully depleted. This is because the iPad's battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity after 1000 complete charge cycles ¹.

Additionally, if you're using your iPad in a way that keeps it plugged in for extended periods, such as in a kiosk or point-of-sale application, the iPad may modify its charging strategy to limit battery charge to around 80% of maximum. This is done to reduce chemical aging and prolong the battery's lifespan ².

So, go ahead and charge your iPad overnight without worrying about damaging the battery or the device itself.
