how to transfer all data from iPhone4 to Mac book Pro

have managed to connect iphone 4 to Macbook Pro with usb cable. I want to transfer all data (photos etc) off of phone so I can set the phone to factory settings for perhaps someone else to use.

iPhone 4 is an obsolete device that likely will not connect on modern cell networks. It is, after all, almost fifteen (!) years old.

I'm not sure if it will communicate with recent versions of macOS, but here is Apple's current guidance:

Use the Photos application to download pictures from the iPhone.

Use a Finder window to create a backup of your iPhone on the Mac.
