The times checked to sync to iCloud are minimal. The device itself has enough backup space. So your answer does not make sense.

Items checked for backup to iCloud. Wallet, keychain, contacts. Nothing else.
internal device backup, plenty.

so what do you mean “not enough space”?

look at the pictures.

You are confused. There is NO relationship between the storage on your iPhone and the space you have in iCloud. They are completely different respositories. You could have 1Million GB of space on your phone, but that doesn't mean you have more space in iCloud for backups.

muguy is absolutely correct in his assessment of your issue. You aren't syncing things like messages, photos, etc., with iCloud. So the data you don't sync with iCloud means your backup will be too large to backup to an iCloud account of only 50GB.

Backing Up to iCloud Not Working:

Have you just upgraded your iCloud Storage prior to this issue? If so, restart your iPhone, and see if it then works. Without the storage, it’s just not going to work.

Note:

iCloud does not back up everything. Backing up to. a computer is more wise, if you are concerned for a failure (suck as an unsuccessful update where you might lose all your data. Learn more here: What does iCloud Back Up? - Apple Support

Items that you do not sync to iCloud are included in your device backup. If you sync the items to iCloud, they will not be included. It appears that you simply do not have enough space in iCloud to backup.

That's what I was trying to say, but I think you said it better, more succinctly. I should have noted that by NOT syncing with iCloud the data would be included in the backup and that by syncing with iCloud, it wouldn't be included in the backup.

Not sure what you mean by "the device itself has enough backup space." Correct, you're syncing only a few items across your devices using iCloud. Some items are therefore included in your device backup.

Using photos as an example:

If you turn on photos in iCloud, your photos will sync to iCloud and across your devices. That space used by photos is consumed in iCloud.

If you leave it off, photos will be included in your device backup and consume space in iCloud.

You have a little less than 5GB in iCloud. You have more than that in messages (which are included in your device backup)
