Wi-Fi randomly disconnects on my 2017 iMac

In the past two months, my WiFi has randomly disconnected on one of my 2017 iMacs, High Sierra. Turning Wifi off and on fixes it, until the next time. It happens a few times per day. I have never had this issue before. It's annoying having the WIFI to restart all the time. I have another iMac the same year and the same OS, works fine. How to fix this issue? Thanks.

Even though other devices connect okay, you should still restart and update your modem and router!!!!!!! These are frequent fast fixes!!!

However if those still don't work, please do the following:

It will help us get a good idea of what is causing your problem if you provide a report of your system, that way we do not have to play 20 questions with you. The report we are requesting does NOT provide any personal information and is extremely safe to use. Please navigate towww.Etrecheck.com and download the free version of EtreCheck. Once you have you downloaded the app and installed it, please run the report and save it. This report will help us get a good idea what has been installed on your system and help us be able to diagnose what may be wrong.

When you have your report, you can attach it when you reply to this message and we can then review it and help you determine what is needed to get your system running well again.

The first thing to do is ensure your modem and router have been restarted and are running up-to-date firmware. You need to consult their manuals to learn how to check this!!!

Then ensure your Mac is running up-to-date version of Mac OS.

Finally, are ANY of the following types of third party apps installed on the computer:

  • Antivirus
  • Cleaning
  • Security
  • VPN
  • Maintenance

Well, after two weeks, the issue started again. It disconnects randomly almost every day, so I have to turn on the WiFi manually in the menu bar. I ran the Etre check and have the report in a Word document. It shows 2 major and some minor issues. One of the major issues is that the computer is too old—it's from 2013. But it used to work perfectly with WiFi. Why does it disconnect? And how do I attach the Word document?

Thanks, GR.
