Unable to trade in my daughter's new iPad Air

I just bought a new iPad mini for my daughter for Christmas and I wanted to see if there is a way to upgrade it to cellular. There isn't. I tried to use their trade in, and they offered me to recycle it for free. They are depreciating their own products. This iPad is 30 days old. Basically brand new. So sad.

They never accept the latest versions of their products for trade-in, but the offer to recycle it for free suggests the trade-in web page mistook what you were offering as an obsolete model instead of the latest. Maybe it misunderstood which model year iPad mini you had.

They usually will take hardware back with no questions asked within 14 days after purchase (in the USA), longer around the holidays but not a full month into the new year.
