iPhone 12 Pro Max requires passcode after reset, old passcode does not work

So I upgrade to iphone 16. My old iphone 12 promax i reset and erase all contents and removed apple id so my daughter can have it.. i removed everything even the passcode.. but when I was about to give it to her.. as we open its asking for passcode,. And the passcode im

usually using doesnt work now.. and it doesnt even shows forgot password.. and it keeps on builiding number of hours waiting to try again

You will either have to wait for the time or reset your phone -
