Sidecar not working | 2015 MacBook Pro (Sequioa) & iPad Pro 4 (iOS18.3)

This feature used to work on Sonoma, but not used it since upgrading to Sequoia... until now. These two devices don't even recognise each other, including the message "iPad is not supported".

I've been through the troubleshooting process; WiFi connection, bluetooth connection, distance between devices. etc. I've also tried a wired connection. I"ve also tried sidecar with my iPhone Pro12, which also used to work, and having the same problem.

Devices:

  • 13" 2015 MacBook Pro i7
  • iPad Pro 4 12.9
  • iPhone Pro 12

I've exhausted everything I know and hoping some out there has the answer.

Thanks

Kenny

Sonoma is not compatible with a 2015 MacBook Pro, much less Sequoia, whatever hack you used to install them is beyond the scope of these forums.

Also, 2015 MacBook Pros are explicitly not supported for SideCar even when running supported macOS versions like Big Sur and Monterey on them. Sidecar requires a 2016 or later MacBook Pro.

Are you sure it's a 2015 MacBook Pro?

It’s ok I managed to figure out how to do what I needed. I wanted to use FaceTime on my Macbook and have my iPad running Freeform with screen shared on same call. Discovered I can use the freeform collaborate feature and what i create my iPad will show on my mac in real time.

Yes, definitely a 2015 MacBook Pro i7. Was very straight forward to upgrade to Sequoia and runs perfectly. Love this little machine and keen to keep it up to date and operating as long as possible. As far as I’m aware this generation of Macbook was the most reliable ever made from that days when Apple products just worked. Seamlessly.
