how to transfer photos to MAC without changing creation date

I'm trying to move my Android's photos to Photos in Mac .

When I use the Android File transfer app . all the photos have the Creation date with the date I make the transfer , so when I import in Photos all have the incorrect date .

How can avoid this ?

one of the solutions could be Change the creation date to Modification date (manually is not an option, I have more than 1000 photos)

help please

Thanks

There are two sets of metadata associated with an image file: the file metadata and image metadata.

What you're seeing is the file creation date. That changes every time a copy is made (i.e. transferred to your Mac from another source, your Android device).

If you import the image files into your Photos library you can view them sorted by date with the oldest first in the main library view. Selecting an image and typing Command+i will bring up the Info pane for that image and show the image capture date:

The image metadata requires an app that can read such data from a file. Preview and Photo are two that can.

If you import them into a Photos library you can copy the image capture date into the Tite field with this user offered AppleScript: Script: Batch Changing the Title to the Capture Date. This an other scripts and user tips can be found here: Thematic Index to Photos for Mac related User Tips. Then if you export them to the Mac's Desktop you can use the Title field as the new file name and will be able to sort them by image capture date with the Finder.

Richard:

when I connect my android device using the Android file transfer I have only one date , when I copied it to the MAC it uses that date as the Last Modificated Date and set the Created Date with the actual date .

Photos uses the Created Date .

I found a bypass , using MACDROID , This sw sees ( or sets , I do not know ) Last Modification Date = Created Date at Android side , and when I transfer to Mac all is correct .

So when I imported from Photos it used Created date =Modification date and all is OK

Thanks a lot

It's not clear to me where you're seeing this incorrect date. If you look in Finder on the Mac then, since Finder is a File Manager, it will show when the file was created. But Photos, an Image Manager, will show the Image creation date--if it has not been stripped from the metadata.

You say "so when I import in Photos all have the incorrect date." Have you actually seen that this is true? If not, try importing some picture into Photos to see.

It may be that on the Android, as with a Mac, you have the option of exporting with or without the metadata, to help preserve privacy. So check those settings to make sure. If the metadata has been stripped, then the date information is gone.
