stop creating hyperlinks in excel, stop opening new blank emails in Mail

I have already unchecked the auto-correct option in Excel to stop if from replacing email addresses with hyperlinks. I don't want every time I type an email address, or copy or move one for it to open "Mail" which I don't use. How do I disable Mail? It is not helpful, it is more like having someone jump in while I am typing and changing what I wrote (an email address to put into a spreadsheet or a list) and do what it thinks I wanted - to send an email, right now, in Mail, which I never use. I would really like to delete "Mail" from my Apple Mac completely, never see it again, and I would also like it not to turn an email address into a hyper link unless I asked it to, which is rare. If I wanted an email, I would have opened my email account and opened an email and typed in an email address, not copied or typed one onto an excel spreadsheet. Getting really tired of my Mac.

I'm not sure why you're hating on MacOS for this, when it's clearly an Excel issue.

In this case, for 99.9% of users, having email addresses automatically converted to hyperlinks is a bonus.

However, there are always exceptions. Fortunately for you, both Microsoft and Apple have provided solutions.

If you don't want Excel to convert email addresses to clickable links, then tell it.

Excel -> Preferences -> Autocorrect -> Replace internet and network paths with hyperlinks:

If you do want to have hyperlinks, but don't want to use Mail.app as your default mail application, then Apple has you covered.

In Mail (yes, sorry, you have to load it at least once), go Mail -> Settings -> General -> Default email reader, and select any other installed mail application you have.
