iPhone Updating in the middle of the day

Hi, I have just had my iPhone restart itself and start installing an update while i am using the phone. I'm at work.

How do I get this to schedule for overnight in the future?

Oh and then after the update finished my settings have been messed about with. Like the new AI feature I have turned off and want Left Off. When I turn something off, I don't want it coming back on again, that's why I turned it off!

Please ensure the Time Zone is set to Automatic.

The time zone on your iPhone is set automatically, but if you don't have Location Services turned on or you don't have service, you can change it manually. Go to Settings > General > Date & Time. Turn off Set Automatically, then tap Time Zone.

The fact is that the update did affect core features, turning AI and Siri back on automatically directly affects personal data, because it has to have access to it in order to work.

the phone is Not a jailbreak phone as you suggested, it had location services turned on, was set to the correct time zone with the 24hr clock, this would point towards an issue with the update not reading the phones time.

Hi! My iPhone 12 just did this while I was taking a nap (I'm a uni student, so it's less of a big deal but my parents still need to contact me lol). I woke up and my phone was just blank. This is actually the 2nd time this has happened to me. The first was with an iPhone XR and my parents couldn't contact me so they called the cops (fun times). I have all the settings changed to overnight as well. My best advice is just doing the update when you get home to avoid Apple forcing you to update.

It's not always the iOS update's fault!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution!

Was/Is your device Jailbroken? If that's the situation, please be informed that attributing the issues to iOS updates may not be accurate.

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.
