There is no special percentage. Just plug it in, and forget about it.

Make sure you have Optimize Battery Charging turned on in System Settings ➜ Battery ➜ Battery Health (i) ➜ Optimize Battery Charging.

It will manage charging and if left on a charge for extended periods of time it will automatically keep it at 80%. Until it knows you are going to unplug it, then it will charge to 100% so its ready to go.

Don't try to micro-manage the battery. It cannot be overcharged.

one more strong suggestion to add to Phil0124 great suggestions:

When AC power is available nearby, Plug it in.

if you need an additional meter of cord, the Apple Three prong Grounded AC power extension cord is available for almost all models for about US$20 equivalent in your local currency. Outside of the US, it features the most common local AC power plug.

That blocky device that plugs into the wall is the POWER ADAPTER. I am not trying to be a jerk about terminology, what these boxes do and how they do it is essential for understanding how they all work together. The LEDs in the MagSafe end are controlled by commands from the computer.

The CHARGER is inside the MacBook Pro, and is completely under program control. Your Mac accepts some power when needs to run, and accepts more power when intends to charge its internal battery. A power source like the Power Adapter can not 'force itself' on your MacBook Pro. Only the algorithms inside your Mac can decide when is a good time to charge the battery.
