  • The subscription streaming service Apple TV+ doesn’t take recommendations from just anyone. They have their own staff that seeks out content for inclusion in their special catalog. As Apple want (streaming) exclusivity for this, very few pre-existing titles are included (e.g. Peanuts/Charlie Brown). They’re only looking for new content that also fits this service for narrative. Apple is looking for a specific kind of stories, that also should result in new subscribers. It does make it a bit easier if the movie has a high profile cast. The best way for filmmakers to catch their eye is probably in the film festival circuit, where the distribution deal auctions are.
  • Content owners (and distribution licensees) can sell [offer for buy or rent] their own movie content in Apple’s movie Store at any time.
  • Apple used to have a request page for the Store, but not anymore. Two of the requests that I once made there, didn’t result in the title reaching the Store. I guess it wasn’t worth the effort, or the studios weren’t interested, or this request page was otherwise not as effective as Apple hoped it would be.
