Problems in iOS 18.3.1 of Storage, iCloud, Messages, and Apple Payment

Please list the issues/bugs that are in ios 18.3.1

Mine are

Iphone storage bug which has been there since 18.2 I heard it was there in ios 17.3 but it wasn't an issue for me

Icloud storage bug thats been there since ios 18.0.0 where the iclous storage keeps doubling for no reason.

MESSAGES bug where the texts aren't being deleted even when u manually delete them from recently deleted folder. Apple said it takes up to 4 days to delete on the server end. Its still not doing this. This bug has been there since ios 18.2 and still not fixed

Apple payment bug, I just got a new card and I had it activated back in Oct. went to the bank everything. Its been fine until today when it asked me to verify it. Its fine but I just dont know why it asked me to verify it when its already been verified by apple and the bank. Im thinking its an ios 18.3.1 bug all I do is enter the 3 digit number from the back of the card and its fine

First step: Do you have a 3rd party VPN installed, even if you are not using it? If so, delete the VPN profile in Settings/General/VPN & Device Management/VPN. Don't just turn it off; delete the profile. If that fixes it, you can try reinstalling VPN. However, VPN actually reduces your privacy, it does not enhance it. AND, if misconfigured, it can cause overheating, lagging and problems communicating.

Question is - what has been done to fix this?

Nothing has been done to fix it, because it is a problem with your phone, not with hundreds of millions of other iPhones. You can contact Apple Support or arrange a Genius Bar visit.

Best way:

  • Install the Apple Support app on your iPhone or iPad - you can contact support directly from the app, and the tech will have (with your permission) access to diagnostic data on your device

Other options:

(Note that both of the above have options to receive a callback or chat)

Like many have shared here, this is the first time I’ve been prompted to post after an iOS update. This version 18.3.1 has pretty much rendered my iPhone 13 useless.

The main problem I notice is with storage. I’ve removed several apps, photos and videos, and have gotten rid of large Message attachments. I even downloaded a clean my phone app. It seemed to work for a bit, but now I can’t even use that app as designed.

My battery drains within hours of being fully charged, and I’m not receiving any audible notifications.

Do you mean icloud storage or iphone storage? Theyre two different things BUT I agree with you there is a problem with both in my opinion. The ipone storage is super high for no reason. I heard this was an issue in ios 17.5 but got fixed before ios 18 came out. The icloud storage has been doubling in size since ios 18.0.0 came out. Its gotten a lil better but not by much. Also when I delete my texts manually and from recently deleted folder theyre suppose to delete from the server end and its not doing this. Which could be why the iphone storage is saying its more than what it is. Apple says it takes up to 4 days for texts to be deleted on the server end once u manually delete them. BUT its still not deleting them. I just keep reporting these bugs on the feedback page. I have iphone se 2022 3rd generation.

Yea theres a lot of issues with ios 18.3.1 make sure you report them on the feedback page. I myself have noticed the icloud backup is VERY SLOW now. Dont know why. Once I turned off my phone and back on it was ok but idk it was weird cuz I have high speed wifi. FAST WIFI. So....Im not sure whats going on. I did notice that when it took forever to backup it did bring the icloud storage down a lot but then when it backed up again like normal the storage went up again so Im not sure. My advice is just report these issues on the apple feedback page

Ever since I updated to 18.3.1 in order of most annoying to just odd:

imessage gets randomly turned off with “no addresses available” to send/recieve (connected to WiFi or not)

all music streaming buffers/lags unless I’m on WiFi

actual cellular service is spottier than usual

wallpaper apps are little white boxes until I click on the folder

occasionally when I Thumb up to switch apps, the apps seem to merge briefly (like the bottom part of the app below will suddenly appear on the bottom of the top app - for instance in email app thumbed up and bottom part of photo app share, favorite, info etc appears at the bottom of the email screen…very weird)

my son just updated his phone last night so we shall see what glitches he has

Wow, to have that many testers and “missing” such importance details that create such poor performance is the greatest negligence and nonsense ever known! So what’s the pride in that? Absolutely nothing!!

Some beta testers are professional developers, and some are “Appleseed” experienced users, invited by Apple to review early versions, but the vast majority are users like you who just wanted to get an early look at the newest software. You could have been one of those once the public beta was opened, about 2 months before general availability. If there were any significant issues both the professionals and the hundreds of thousands of regular users would have reported them. The only logical conclusion is that there is a problem with your phone, not with release.

but to get help with you problem you need to either contact Apple support or explain the issue you have.

Never experienced as many problems with any update!

Certain Yahoo messages with attachments will no longer download from Server – have tried all suggestions and although it resolved for awhile, still intermittent. It was fine before the update!

Certain photographs are not saving even though plenty of storage left on phone. Yet again fine before the iOS 18.3.1 update!

Battery draining faster than ever!

Certain websites are buffering as though there is an Internet issue – Wi-Fi signal perfectly okay.

Seems other iPhone users are experiencing similar problems.

Hopefully Apple will release another update that will resolve these issues because the phone was working perfectly before downloading iOS 18.3.1
