Why aren’t my haptics working for texts?

Hi,

I’m trying to set my text notifications to vibrate instead of sound alerts but they’re still coming through with sound.

I’ve adjusted my settings accordingly to the instructions I’ve found online but none have worked and I’m not sure what I’m missing ?

This is what I’ve done so far:

Settings > notifications > messages > sounds > haptics > default

Settings > sounds & haptics > text tone > haptics (system haptics are on)

I’ve tried using different haptics e.g Always play, Play in silent, etc.

🤷🏼‍♀️

There are places where you may have set Haptics to None.

  1. Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Vibration [Enable]
  2. General Sound & Haptics (See the Pic below)
  3. Alarm (See the pic below)
  4. Phone Ring Tone (See the pic below)
  5. For emails
    1. You will have to set it independently for every mail account (Watch the GIF below: This is an old one but the concept remains the same)
    2. Note: The default is No Vibration.
  6. For Email Haptics see the steps below on iOS 18
  7. Overall Sounds & Haptics
  8. Customise for Individual Accounts and Sub-categories
