Follow this process below to keep your personal data.
If you see the Restore screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you see the Restore screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, learn what to do.

Restart your device
If you see the Restore screen, restart your device:
Reinstall iOS or iPadOS
If you still see the Restore screen after you restart, you need to reinstall iOS or iPadOS:
If the above fails
If your device turns on but gets stuck during start-up
If you see the Apple logo or a red or blue screen during startup, try these steps:


Your computer will download the software for your device. If it takes more than 15 minutes, your device will exit recovery mode and you'll need to repeat steps 2 and 3.

Time to make an appointment at the Apple Store or take the phone to an authorized Apple service shop.
You can find a list of authorized service shops in your area using this link: Find Locations
Unfortunately, repairs are going to be expensive.....if parts are still available. Even if they are, the shop may advise that that the money might be better spent on a new phone.
Hadthis problem with Ipad
Did the reset on pad and then connected to Windows computer and started Itunes
Itunes said there was a problem and the Ipad needed to be updated. (This was different than a normal update notice.)
Proceeded with update (not restore) and it froze in same location loading firmware with Itunes terminating
Repeated same procedure 4 times with same result.
From hint on Apple, tried same process on older laptop and it worked as anticipated although very slow.
Given the repeatability, I theorize that the download file was corrupted and by moving to new computer, I downloaded a new update file. (This was reflected in the app dialoug)
Another solution that might work, is to delete the update file from the computer and start over.
Windows 10,11: \Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\
Thank you but after restarting on my PC I get the apple logo which quickly disappears and the plug logo reappears.
