Faulty 2018 Macbook Pro Recall Replacement Screen

Subject: Request for Assistance with Malfunctioning Screen and Battery Recall – 15” 2018 MacBook Pro

Dear Apple Support,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to seek assistance with an ongoing issue I am experiencing with my 15” 2018 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, which I purchased brand new from the Apple Store at Upper Canada Mall in Newmarket, Ontario, in 2018.

In 2021, I was informed that Apple had issued recalls for both the battery and the screen due to known malfunctions. I took my MacBook to an Apple Store, and I was assured that the issues had been addressed, and the repairs were completed successfully. I was also reassured that these problems would not occur again.

However, in December of 2024, the screen began to malfunction in exactly the same way it had previously. I brought the laptop back to Apple, and I was quoted $1,000 for a screen repair. I was informed that, at the store level, the replacement screen is not being classified as faulty, despite the fact that the issue is identical to the one covered by the original recall. I would like to clarify that this laptop has remained in my bedroom since I purchased it; it has never been dropped, hit, or subjected to any physical stress. Given the $4,000 price of this device, I believe it is unreasonable for it to fail in this manner, especially after having been repaired under the recall.

I have also reached out to Apple’s online tech support, but unfortunately, I have not received a response for several weeks. This MacBook Pro is essential to my work as a photographer and my studies, and I rely on it heavily.

I am kindly requesting that you review my case and provide assistance in resolving the issue. I believe this is a case where the malfunction of the screen is directly related to the initial recall, and as such, should be treated as part of the warranty or recall repair process. I would appreciate it if you could escalate this matter or direct me to the appropriate channels that can offer support.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response and hope we can find a resolution soon.

Sincerely,

Owen Code
