Recover "deleted" message ios 18.3.1

yes, that's it. if there are no deleted messages, the option does not appear. thanks anyways, on that. as far as seeing the entire posts here w/ chrome, that's still a mystery.

this community forum is unusable to me. (chrome; sonoma ; MKGP3LL/A)my original post sometimes appear in it's complete form, and is sometimes truncated drastically, and I can only see the full post if I hit edit. Jeez

"I just picked up my Xs Max, and before face id opened it, I glanced an important looking message that appeared to be from a local utility company, not sure which one. But when I immediately went to messages it was not there! I hope an ios glitch just deleted it.

Recover deleted messages in Messages on iPhone - Apple Support says for ios 18

"Go to the Messages app  on your iPhone.

In the Messages conversation list, do one of the following:

Tap Edit in the top-left corner, then tap Show Recently Deleted.

Tap Filters in the top-left corner, then tap Recently Deleted.

Ugh... ummm... tapping Edit yields only "Select Messages; Edit Pins; Set Up Names and Pins" and I don't see any "Filters" in the top left corner. Does Apple's left hand not know what it's right hand is doing, or am I just an idiot? Thank you.
