iOS 18 (and likely future versions) do not have a distinct "Camera Roll" album or folder in the Photos app. The functionality of the old Camera Roll is now distributed and organized in different, more intelligent ways.
The "Camera Roll" label hasn’t been part of the Photos app since iOS 13.
The photos and videos are not stored within the Camera app itself. The Camera app is simply the tool for capturing them. Once captured, the Photos app is where they are organized and accessible.
The Photos app uses various criteria to organize your media, including:
- Recents/Recent Days: Shows photos and videos in chronological order of when they were taken.
- Albums: User-created albums for custom organization.
- Featured Photos: AI-curated selections of photos and videos.
- People: Group photos based on facial recognition.
- Memories: Automatically generated slideshows of photos and videos based on events, locations, and people.
So, the Camera Roll as a single, unified place is gone, replaced by a more sophisticated and, arguably, more useful system within the Photos app.
