Gmail backup to icloud

I am trying to back up Gmail emails from the past to iCloud and I’m having problems, especially since I am older now and somewhat slow?

There are a few ways to do this depending on your needs. If you just want to download an archive of all of your Google (Gmail) data for safe keeping (which you can store in iCloud), you can use Google Takeout (https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/3024190). That will produce a single large archive file that you can download and then upload to iCloud for safe keeping.

If you want to copy all of your individual emails from your Gmail account to your iCloud email then it's going to be far easier to do so from a desktop or laptop Mac than from iPhone. After setting up both accounts in Mail, you can select a large number of emails in your Gmail Inbox, Sent, or other mailbox, then right-click, then choose "Copy to" and select the iCloud mailbox that you want to store them in.

I just gave it a try on iPhone but there only seems to be a "Move" and not a "Copy" option.
