Iphone 16 wont work through car stereo speakers

I can pair my new iphone 16 with my Chrysler Voyager, but when I get a phone call, it will not play the callers voice through my car speakers. I have to manually hit speaker on the phone for the caller to hear me. I can place a call using voice recognition, but again, I have to hit the speaker button on the phone to hear anything. I know the speakers work because I can hit enable phone on the multimedia screen in the car and it will direct the call through the speakers. Once carplay takes over, you can’t choose enable phone as an option. As a handicapped driver, using hand controls to drive, this is a big deal. The Chrysler dealer says they can’t fix it, there are no updates. So I miss every call. Thoughts?

If CarPlay doesn't detect your iPhone, make sure CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. If Content & Privacy Restrictions are turned on, tap Allowed Apps and make sure CarPlay is enabled. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, and then tap Forget This Car.

If you're still having trouble with your car's audio system using CarPlay or Bluetooth, try the Aux cable. To get it fixed, there are two options:

  1. Take your car to a reputable car dealer or car audio specialist. They have experienced technicians who can diagnose the problem with the Aux cable. This could be a loose connection, a faulty cable itself, or an issue with the system's Aux port. They'll be able to repair the issue or recommend a replacement cable if needed.
  2. Consult your car's infotainment system manuals. These manuals often include troubleshooting sections that might address common Aux cable problems. You might find instructions for resetting the system, cleaning the Aux port, or confirming the cable's compatibility.

Before taking your car to a dealer, it's always a good idea to check the manuals first. This can sometimes save you time and money if it's a simple fix you can handle yourself. However, if the manuals don't offer a solution, or you're uncomfortable tinkering with the system, then a car audio specialist is the way to go.

My car detects carplay. Everything else, music, maps, even turn by turn instructions plays through the speakers, just not the phone. The car dealership has had the car 3 times. Every mechanic on the lot has tried fixing it. The phone, a brand new iphone 16, charges through the top cable port, so its not the cable. The only time I got the phone to play through the speakers when a call comes in, was to use my old phone and hit the “enable phone” option in systems. Once carplay is selected, all other options, like enable phone or enable bluetooth are greyed out. They cannot be selected. I am lost.
