How do I prevent random AirPods from attempting to connect to my iPad?

Random airpods trying to connect to my ipad

How do i stop the popups from happening on my ipad that random airpods are trying to connect?

It ALWAYS happens and it is very disruptive. I cant turn off my bluetooth because i am using the apple pencil.

I have tried desperately to google this question but the results always direct me to troubleshooting a problem that exists on the Airpods. I do not have airpods, and i rarely use my bluetooth earphones with my ipad. Most of the time the only bluetooth device connecting is the apple pencil. Saying “someome is probably trying to connect their airpods to their devices, tell hem not to” isnt a solution? What am i suppossed to do, find every airpods owner in a duplex starbucks and tell them to shut them? No one is too close to me. Most of the times there is no one in 2-3 meters radius around me. And when there is, i am sure they are not trying to connect anything. I see this pop up like every 5 to 10 seconds which makes me not able to use my device. I hardly wrote even this.

  • AirPods, when taken out of their case, enter a discovery mode to pair with nearby Apple devices.
  • Your iPad is likely picking up these signals, even if the AirPods are not intentionally being paired with your device.
  • Even if people are not actively trying to pair, their airpods could be accidently trying to pair.
  • In crowded areas, there's a higher chance of interference, which could cause your iPad to detect AirPods that are further away.

Some Troubleshooting methods include

1.Reset Network Settings:

Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

This will reset Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings.

This can sometimes resolve Bluetooth connectivity issues.

2.Ensure iPadOS is Up to Date:

Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check for and install any available updates.

Software updates often include bug fixes and improvements to Bluetooth connectivity.

3.Disable Handoff:

Go to Settings > General > Airplay & Handoff and turn off Handoff.

Handoff allows apple devices to transfer activity between one another. Disabling this, can sometimes lessen the amount of unwanted bluetooth signals.
