Cannot log into with Apple ID to WatchOs 11.

I got to Settings and there's a message "Update Apple Account Settings". I touch the message and get "Update Apple Account Settings" Some account services require you to sign in again. Continue". I click Continue and the interface shows an endless spinning thing. I have shut the watch off and restarted it. I have booted it. Nothing seems to work. Find It doesn't find anything since I'm not logged in.

I just got it so I'm returning the Watch until I hear Apple has their stuff together. I read a series of posts from a few years back that comments have shut down. This sound like a permanent issue.

I finally managed to fix this on my Watch (after seeing it for about a year and not knowing how to get out of it). The secret is: do NOT tap Continue! Instead, when you see "Update Apple Account Settings", tap _your name_ (at the top of the list of settings). Now try tapping something here such as Personal Information. There will be a spinner but you will eventually get through and see your name and similar. When you get back out to the Settings screen, the "Update Apple Account Settings" will be gone.

Logging into your Apple Account on your iPhone may bring up the Update.

For example, open the App Store app on your iPhone. Tap your account in the upper right corner and any required updates may appear.

Have you tried to update the account settings on the paired iPhone?

M1 Mac mini, macOS 15.3.1;  Watch, series 10 GPS-only, watchOS 11.3.1; iPhone 16, iOS 18.3.1; TV 4th Gen, tvOS 18.3; HomePods, audioOS 18.3 and Airport Express w/ Airplay 2

Do you mean account settings through the Watch app on the iPhone? I just did and that may have fixed it. I can now connect to my iPhone from my watch and Find My.. works on both devices. However, the problem of "Update Apple Account Settings" and the watch going into an endless loop still remains. I think I'll take the approach of "don't click that" until there are other related issues.
