How to get non-purchased music from iphone or ipod to iTunes

I have thousands of songs I had on CDs on my old iphone and ipoid, and I'd like to get them to my new iphone. I don't believe iTunes supports that, so what is the best way to get that done? Thanks...

Thank you for the reply. I would actually prefer to get the music from my ipod as it has everything I want. Is there 3rd party software that is safe to install that will transfer all my music from an iPod to iTunes so I can sync it to my new phone?

iMazing can do this. You would transfer the songs from your iPod to your Mac (to a folder, not directly into iTunes/Music), then in a second step import them from the folder into your iTunes/Music app. Third step would be to sync to your new iPhone.

Thanks a lot. I saw that software but wasn't sure if it was safe.

iMazing is really good, and I consider it safe. I have been using it for quite a few years and in fact it "saved" my Calendar when Catalina stopped sync'ing for some unknown reason. I was able to extract my full calendar from my iPhone, clear the Calendar app on my Mac, reload it from the iMazing export, and reinitialize my calendar sync. It worked beautifully.

The best way to get that done would be to manually synchronize your new phone to your iTunes/Music Library on your Mac or PC.

That presumes you took care to preserve and protect the master library on your Mac or PC which you used to load the old iPhone and iPod in the first place. The model was always that you took care to protect that library, and then could use it to load new/replacement portable devices as needed.

Do you still own the original media?

If you don't, then you don't own the music any more.
