How do I turn on my new iPhone 16 Pro when the power button doesn't work?

I have a technical question. How do I turn on my new 16 Pro? I bought it a few days ago. I turned it off yesterday, fully charged. Now pushing the right-side button is not doing it. It's totally black! I used the trick posted here (volume +/- for a few seconds then the right button) and that didn't solve the problem. Has anyone had this issue? Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Thank you for the reply! After trying the volume trick, which didn't work with me, I went to the Apple store and they did the same thing. I guess I had not held the side button long enough. I learned that in this case the phone is actually on and only the screen is black. Probably an OS glitch, which I hope is fixed soon. Kind of scary to have a (supposedly) dead brand new phone!

Get this Serviced:

Seems to be a faulty device. So, ask Apple if they will service it for you. Apple gives you a one-year, out-of-the-box , limited-warranty with their devices (depending on your location). So, I recommend asking Apple if they’d replace it for.

Hi! I got confused/worried. Why do you think I have a faulty device that needs to be replaced? At the Apple store they did the same procedure you suggested (volume buttons and side button) and the problem was solved. I couldn't justify asking for a replacement. I believe it was the same black screen situation you addressed in the tips.

You don't have a faulty device. The Forced Restart worked just fine. Don't worry here. I would however, if I were you, NOT power off the phone unless you absolutely have to power it off. I restart my phone on occasion as it's a good thing do, but I never power off my phone for any extended time.

Actually I had just bought the phone. It went to the usual initial screens and the iOS was downloaded. I had trouble transferring the apps from the old phone and got help at the Apple store. At home, I turned it off just to get everything "settled". When I tried to turn it back on later, it would not light up and I thought it had died. The next day, when I took it back to the store, they used the Forced Restart and everything was fine. I intend not to turn my phone off like I used to. But this time the issue was not due to any extended time off, unless we count the time since it was manufactured.

I said nothing of getting a replacement. If the buttons aren’t working all the time, then it’s a “factory defect”. But I read it as if you didn’t solve it. So, you’re fine —there nothing faulty about it.

I have been doing that with the computer. I shut it down only occasionally. I should do the same with the phone then. Thanks! I just want to mention that my previous phone, XS, never had any problem at all. I would have kept it longer, but I was always getting warnings that it didn't have enough storage to have the iOS updated. So I got the 16 Pro. Then literally a couple of days later (I had not even received the new phone yet) the old phone got the update all by itself! Go figure!
