It is "up to date" as far as the capability of the iPhone model is concerned.

Or, in other words, the iPhone cannot be updated to run iOS 16, 17 or 18.

15.8.3 is the last security update that was released for iOS 15.

It was released on July 29, 2024.

Apple supports the current version and the 2 previously major versions of iOS.

iOS 15 is technically no longer supported.

It is possible that it could get a security update in the future if a major flaw is discovered, but don’t count on it.

If your company is running 15.8.3, you need to upgrade your devices to ones that are capable of running a supported version of iOS.

This is a user to user only forum and we don't work for Apple, nor have any knowledge of whether Apple will release any future security updates for devices still on iOS 15.8.3. Sorry, but no one here can answer whether iPhone 6s or 7 models will get security updates in the future.

Technically no, since last year in July, but some users have reported an update over the weekend which has kept the version number at 15.8.3 but left the iPhone at the "Hello" screen, typically seen after an update.

One can only guess what the update was, as there is no info about it on Apple's security update page, but I have seen a few reports on the forums about it, so its safe to assume something was updated.

We may get some more details further in the day.
