Upgrade memory for iMac (27-inch, Late 2013)
Can you please help me with were i can purchase and which memory card would be best for my iMac (27-inch, Late 2013) and whats the max memory i can upgrade
I always get my RAM from OWC as well, BUT...
...for iMacs, I've learned to ask "why do you want to add RAM," and for good reason.
First, how much installed RAM do you currently have? From "About this Mac..."
Most people coming here for advice about adding RAM to their iMacs are looking to remedy bad performance. The truth is that over 90%+ of all "slow iMac" complaints here turn out NOT to be caused by a lack of RAM, but rather to slow mechanical hard drives that are simply not up to handling newer macOS versions and apps.
A quick at-home quiz may help:
- Is your Mac slow to start from cold?
- Are big apps (MS Office; Photoshop; etc) slow to launch?
- Once launched, do those same apps seem run fine?
Three "yes" answers strongly suggests a drive issue that all the RAM in the world cannot fix.
Hard data being our friends, there is a more sophisticated way that my little quiz to see if you have a RAM issue or a slow storage issue.
