iPhone 16 Max camera not scanning QR codes within authenticator apps

While setting up new authenticator logins, I encounter a black screen when trying to scan the QR code within any authenticator app.

I've confirmed that the camera has permission, and I can scan QR codes using the standard iPhone camera app. However, this doesn't help with setting up two-factor authentication. The issue persists across Microsoft, Google Authenticator, and other security apps requiring QR code scanning.

This problem started after upgrading to the iPhone 16 Max, and it's quite frustrating.

Thanks,

When I press the button to scan the QR code - all i get is a blank screen - i cant scan the QR code in first place - usually it can be seen on the screen to scan - but its a blank screen as though the camera hasn't activated. even though in the settings it has permission.[…]

Ah!

Successfully Deleting a Shortcut on an iPhone:

A. Close All Apps:

The camera app may be stalled. I get this error, but only intermittent and rarely. So save what need be and then close all apps. Hold you finger down as you swipe up from the bottom-left corner of your screen. Then, close all of these open apps, by swiping up quickly for all apps.

B. Perform a Force Restart:

Try Force Restarting your iPhone. Save any information that need be. Then perform the Force Restart. See if you can then perform those, no longer getting the blank screen. Go Here: Force Restart iPhone - Apple Support

Thanks

Unfortunately - its while using the apps - they need to scan QR codes to add new keys for the 2 factor identification. Using the normal camera app to scan the QR code - the scan doesn't link to the app i want. i.e the scan has to be done within these authenticator apps.

You are welcome.

If you cannot get the sites to log in, then contact them. You may not be provided the correct code, or you may need to remove your device and then add it back

maybe I'm not explaining correctly.

When I press the button to scan the QR code - all i get is a blank screen - i cant scan the QR code in first place - usually it can be seen on the screen to scan - but its a blank screen as though the camera hasn't activated. even though in the settings it has permission.

So i find it hard to believe multiple apps all have the same issue at the same time - i can only think its a problem with the permissions from apple.
