iPhone - email GoDaddy two-factor identification with facial recognition phone not accepting authentication

I started using Microsoft's two-factor identification month or so ago without any issues. As of 28 February I can no longer login to my email account hosted by GoDaddy on my iPhone. When I enter my password for the account it goes to Microsoft's two-factor identification app. I enter the password and get my authentication code and successfully enter it into Authenticator. Authenticator accepts the pass code and facial recognition. When I go back to my email account I get the message to enter my password.

I am not having issues with my MBP, nor my iPad (successfully logged into my email account on my iPad this morning). Help?

iPhone 13, iOS 18

Thanks for the info.

I've read the information in the link and attempted to create an app specific password for Authenticator. The password would not generate. I received the error message: "To generate an app-specific password, sign in again using your password and two-factor authentication." The two-factor authentication I'm using is specific to my GoDaddy hosted email account. I'm not sure how to sign in again (to my Apple account(?) If Apple also has a two-factor identification I don't think I've activated it.

I don't understand why Authenticator was working up until last Friday, and is still working with my MBP and iPad.

Can anyone help me with this issue? GoDaddy hosted email issue.

  • iPhone error message: "Account Error: [email] Details…" I click on "Details…" and get message:
  • "Cannot Get Mail. No password provided for [email]. Please go to Mail Account Settings and enter a password."
  • I go to settings and touch "re-enter password" and get the message window: "'Settings' Wants to use 'windows.net' to Sign In. This allows the app and…"
  • I click continue, enter my password, get my authentication code and enter it into Authenticator. Authenticator accepts my password and facial recognition. I think everything is OK.
  • Then go back to my email to the error message: iPhone error message: "Account Error: [email] Details…"
