Bluetooth audio stuttering issues on my iPhone 16e

Is anyone having issues with Bluetooth audio stuttering? I just upgraded to the 16e from the 13 mini and any Bluetooth device keeps hitching. The sound pauses for a second then picks back up. I’ve tried factory resetting without using an iCloud backup to see if that solved the issue but it still happening. I’m wondering if this is just early adopter troubles or an iOS 18 bug. It’s been driving me nuts!

I am having the same issue when iPhone 16e is connected to any bluetooth device (tried three different ones including Beats headphones). This does not happen with any other iPhone I have and had.

With Apple support tried:

- playback of music & podcasts via Apple's app, as well as music from youtube via Safari

- using it in different locations

- forced reset

- factory reset

- flight mode (mobile connect & WiFi off, Bluethooth on)

- replacing the phone with another iPhone 16e

None of that fixed it.

Support was escalated from Germany to the US. The Engineers came back with "delay is expected behavior". I was never talking about delay, but the sound cutting out, stuttering if you will.

They told me they will NOT attempt to address this issue because there are not enough complaints about this (yet). Everyone in this thread with the same problem: please open tickets with Apple's help desk and be persistent to escalate it before it gets shut down.

Bluetooth interference can potentially cause connectivity issues due to the disruption of the wireless communication between devices. Bluetooth operates in the 2.4 GHz frequency range, which is also used by various other devices such as Wi-Fi routers, microwaves, cordless phones, and even some baby monitors. When multiple devices are operating nearby and using the same frequency band, interference can occur.

Not in my case. It happens with youtube, with spotify, with any sound coming from the phone by bluetooth.

And it doesn't matter if there is another bluetooth connection to, for example, an Apple Watch or not, the problem is still the same, and it's not an headphones problem because on the iPhone 13 Pro they work flawlessly even with other 6 bluetooth connections active (for apple stuff and iot devices)

Happens to me with brand new iPhone 16e, just upgraded from 2020 SE which did not have any issue at all.

Per the suggestions in the thread, I have tried disconnecting all other Bluetooth devices. This seems to have improved the stuttering but not completely cured it, I still get them often enough to ruin the music I am listening to.

I think mine might have something to do with my iWatch4. I usually dont carry watch with me so the first day i got the 16e while traveling and commute to work, no issue with bluetooth headset. I am using same headset last night at home where my iWatch4 is connected while at home, Music will stopped every minute or few, i see headset, iWatch and Tesla key all disconnected for few seconds, on the bluetooth screen. I restarted my iWatch today, it has been much more stable. I am going to test it more and if problem return, I’ll turnoff iWatch and monitor this.

Yes, I also just activated my iPhone 16e and connected my AirPod 4 w noise cancellation & they now stutter/go silent for 1/2 second roughly 3 - 6 times per song with this new phone. I never had this or any issue when connected to my prior iPhone 13.

Update: I just received there wireless Bluetooth earbuds from Amazon: https://a.co/d/2lcx8ML

I have a Fitbit Inspire 3 which I stopped the Bluetooth connection then paired the earbuds then added the Fitbit back on the Bluetooth. Playing Apple music and so far all is good. Not sure if it’s the version of Bluetooth that makes the difference. The Fitbit appears to have version 5 and new earbuds are version 5.4. Good luck all.

I’ve just switched to the 16e after being a lifelong Android user - this issue is extremely frustrating because I’m otherwise loving the switch, but Bluetooth audio is unusable in this state. I’m all up to date on software and unable to use my headphones without this issue.

I’m having the same (annoying) issue. I’ve adjusted Bluetooth settings to no avail. I’ve deleted my music library and reloaded it through iTunes which didn’t help. I’ve tried removing location settings and no luck. Come on Apple, please get this sorted!

Same problem over here with the bluetooth audio stuttering on my new iPhone 16e. I've never had a problem with any other iPhone, and it is with every set of headphone and earbuds in my house. I tried all of the various fixes, and I'm so irritated by the amount of time I've spent on this, I'm just going to return the phone and go back to my old one. I have to listen to audio for work and I can't deal with the stuttering and dropped audio.
