iCloud Storage near FULL and literally DELETED EVERYTHING
My iCloud storage is saying it is near full and I have literally deleted EVERYTHING from MAIL. The complete Inbox, Sent, Folders, Junk, Trash, there is NOTHING at all in my iCLOUD MAIL at all. I do not have an APPLE device so it shouldn't be backed up in any mysterious locations. There is NO WHERE I can find that email messages can exist. This was completed days ago, so just in case there is lag when it would show up on this storage server.
I have tried all this:
1. Check iCloud Drive
Even though you cleared your Mail, other data might be taking up space in your iCloud Drive. Documents, photos, or app data can sometimes accumulate and fill up the storage. To check:
- Go to iCloud.com and log in with your Apple ID.
- Click on iCloud Drive.
- Look for any files or folders you don’t need, and delete them.
Alternatively, if you use the iCloud Drive app on another device (like a Windows PC), check there as well.
2. Check Photos and Backups
If you have any photos or device backups that are stored on iCloud, they could be occupying a lot of space:
- Photos: Visit iCloud Photos and check if your images and videos are taking up significant space.
- Go to iCloud.com, then click on Photos.
- Delete unwanted photos or videos.
- Backups: Even if you don't have an Apple device now, there may be old backups from a previous device that are still in your iCloud storage.
- On iCloud.com, click Settings.
- Under Storage, look at the list of apps and backups.
- If there’s an old backup, delete it if it's no longer needed.
3. Check for iCloud Mail Attachments
Even though you've cleared the Mail app, sometimes attachments from emails (even those in deleted folders) can still be counted towards your storage. You may need to check for attachments within the iCloud storage settings:
- Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Storage.
- Look for any Mail or other apps using large amounts of storage.
4. Manage iCloud Storage Usage
If the iCloud storage isn't reflecting what you've deleted, try the following:
- Go to Settings (on any Apple device, if available).
- Tap your Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage.
- Here, you can see which apps are taking up space and decide whether to delete or offload them.
5. Check iCloud Email on the Web
Even though you’ve cleaned out the Mail app, there might be some email data still hanging around in other folders that didn’t sync properly:
- Log in to iCloud.com and check the Mail section one more time.
- Look in Trash, Spam, or Deleted Items to ensure nothing is lingering.
6. Re-sync iCloud Mail and Restart
Sometimes iCloud services can take a while to sync across devices. If you've deleted everything but storage isn’t updating:
- Try signing out and back into iCloud on the web or on any device you have connected.
- Restart your devices to ensure the iCloud settings sync properly.
