AppleCare for Enterprise Won’t Cover My Repair – Stuck in a Loop

I’m hoping someone here can help me. I was let go from my company last year, and as part of my severance, I was allowed to keep my work laptop. When it was originally purchased in 2022, it came with AppleCare for Enterprise, which is STILL valid until June 2025. Since the coverage was already in place, I didn’t see the need to buy separate AppleCare. Paying double for insurance doesn’t make sense when one is already valid.

Recently, my internal LCD display cracked, and when I tried to get it repaired, I hit a dead end. Apple told me I need to go through my company’s IT help desk, but my former company no longer has the laptop’s serial number associated with them, so they can’t authorize anything. Apple won’t help me directly, and my former IT team can’t access anything about the device so I’m stuck in a loop where I have valid insurance but no way to use it.

Had I known this would happen, I would have just bought standard AppleCare myself and paid a small repair fee instead of facing a $900 out-of-pocket cost when I already have coverage. Has anyone else dealt with this? Is there any way to get Apple to honor the AppleCare for Enterprise coverage without going through my former IT team? I’ve tried to receive help via Apple phone, in-store, and my former employer’s help desk.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Super bummer and frustrating.
