Photos taken on in-app camera blurry without focus on my iPhone 16 Pro Max

When I try to take photos on in-app cameras, more specifically photos of important documents for signing up or verifying identity on apps such as Dasher, or Lyft Driver, or even the web camera for a government website, It doesn’t focus, it is extremely blurry unless I move the camera far from the subject. Which makes the photo unacceptable for the verification service anyway. This has made signing up for services that require ID verification much more complicated than they need to be.

This is a strange issue to have on my iPhone 16 Pro Max, as it seems it’s just for some reason I cannot utilize the focus and zoom functions of my camera on in-app camera interfaces for other apps. Any fixes?

The minimum focus distance of the 1X 24mm lens changed in iPhone 16 models. The third party software must update their apps to be compatible with the new models.

Third party developers have had almost 6 months to update their apps. There is nothing Apple can do. Apple can’t update other companies apps due to copyright laws.

Please contact the support team for the app you are trying to use. Sorry I don’t have a better solution. 😢

I’ve heard of individuals being able to get closeups by place a magnifying glass, camera diopter filter, eyeglasses, readers etc. between the iPhone lens and subject (license?) and getting acceptable results. Good luck!

Thank you for clearing that up, that’s what I suspected was the issue but was hoping someone would have a fix idk 😅. Well I guess all we can do is complain until it gets fixed.
