WhatsApp Backup error, chats lost when transfering from android to iOS

I've recently bought a new iPhone and started doing all the transferring process from my old Android.

For this, I used the move to iOS app, and during the transfering process I also chose to transfer my WhatsApp data. When the transfer finished I finally was able to start using my iphone (everything like photos, contacts, etc seemed to be transferred correctly). Then I installed WhatsApp and I opened it for the 1st time, and when doing the transfer of data (inside the WhatsApp app) it loaded until 40% and then just continuously kicked me out of the app. Every time I reopened the app and restarted the transfer process it kicked me out of the app. I searched for this problem in the internet and someone mentioned to restart the iphone and reinstall the WhatsApp app, and so I did. The issue now is that when I retry to open WhatsApp on my new iPhone, it doesn't even start the transfer process like the 1st time, it just checks for a backup in iCloud (there's none it says) and then when I keep going I'm able to open WhatsApp but even though I have my contacts, all the chats and images are gone.

Please I'd really appreciate if someone could help me, this transfering process has been terrible 😔

There are two scenarios.

  • WhatsApp Chat is on the Android Device
  • WhatsApp Chat is backed up on Cloud Drives

WhatsApp Chat is on the Android Device

If all your WhatsApp chats are on the Android Device and have not taken a chat backup then... Please use --> Move from Android to iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple ... Select WhatsApp App while selecting which data you want to get moved from an Android to iOS.

WhatsApp Chat is backed up on Cloud Drives

WhatsApp Chat backed on any Cloud Drive may not get fetched. The Move process cannot extract data from Google Drive or any other Drive where the chat backups are stored using an Android device, I presume iCloud Drive is not one of them. My experience says you can't transfer the WhatsApp Backup which was done using an Android because on Android, WhatsApp, chat history is not stored on iCloud, on iOS it is.

That may be possible with third-party software. Warning!; WhatsApp data through third-party software has the risk of data being compromised. Because the data will be churned through third-party servers, which may or may not be encrypted. Be judicious while selecting the software and taking this call.

If you had enabled WhatsApp Chat backup then I am sorry you may need to contact the app developer here --> App Support or WhatsApp FAQ  Or Restoring your chat history - WhatsApp FAQ or Contact WhatsApp
