My original Mac Book Pro 14 inch (2021) model running on the updated version: macOS Sequoia 15.3.1 (24D70) experienced a sudden and concerning display issue. While switching from coding to the Calculator app, horizontal lines appeared on the screen (as shown in the image). I couldn't resolve the problem and had to force a restart using the Touch ID button. Following the restart, I noticed flickering in the top right corner of the lock screen. After a subsequent shutdown and restart, the issue hasn't returned.
I'm trying to understand what might have caused this temporary display malfunction.
Date of Occurrence: March 8, 2025.

You have a hardware failure.
I might suspect the horizontal lines you see point to GPU /screen buffer /display-generator fault.
In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment
