Touch pad is too sensitive on new MacBook Air . Help

Regardless of what I do it either highlights , moves sentences around , erases , highlights is worst of all

Trackpad on macbook air responds to slightest touch and moves cursor. This is ruining my writing and wasting endless hours readjusting my script. All the so/called fixes don’t reduce this sensitivity. Trackpad much too sensitive. The slightest touch moves cursor so typescript becomes totally nonsensical and has to be rewritten. All the usual advice for adjustment does not address this issue.

Have you tried to tweak with the touchpad settings in settings?
