Rented a movie but it won’t play

Hi, I rented a movie and my payment went through, but when I try to play it, it says “You did not buy this item. You can not re-download this”. I have rented it before, but like a year ago. I can’t re-rent it?

You should be able to do that.

Did you verify that the matching Apple Account is used? A mixup of accounts could be a cause for inaccessibility.

Does this title show in your recent purchase history?

Please contact the iTunes Store staff for any issues with content rented or bought from the iTunes Store.

There’s also a recent other user with the same error message. It is conceivable that the error is on Apple’s side. Just too much coincidence for my liking.
