2023 laptop connecting to a 2008 30” monitor with DVI

I have a new 2023 Apple laptop with ISBC and HDMI that I am trying to connect to a 2008 30” Apple Cinema HD with a DVI port. I have tried a USB to DVI adapter, and although the laptop reads the Cinema HD in the list of displays it does not produce an image in the monitor. Could this be a setting I’m missing or Perhaps need a hub?

the 30 in cinema display is a 2560 by 1600 display.

DVI displays wider than 1920 wide REQUIRE a Dual-Link DVI adapter.

Simple cabling above 1920 wide does not work well, so the DVI standard includes an extra set of data conductors (three more pairs). In this picture the 6 center pins in medium blue are required for Dual-link, but may be missing in ordinary (single-link) DVI adapters and cables.
