How do I unlock a MacBook Pro with a firmware password linked to my Apple ID?

Hello, I have a MacBook Pro that I was given, but it’s locked with a firmware password. I have the serial number, and the Mac is linked to my Apple ID. I would like to reset and reinstall macOS. I don't have the firmware password, and the previous owner is unavailable. Can you help me unlock this Mac

If you forgot your firmware password / do not have the Firmware password—

If you can't remember your firmware password, schedule an in-person service appointment with an Apple

Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider ( Find Locations )

Bring your Mac to the appointment, and bring your original receipt or invoice as proof of purchase.

If your Mac is using a firmware password, the lock icon appears when you try to start up from another disk or volume, such as an external drive or macOS Recovery. Enter the firmware password to continue.
