push mail iPhone/iPad OS18.3.2 - works unreliably and sometimes not at all

Hello,

Since the update to 18.3.2, the push function in Apple Mail no longer works. Neither on the iPhone nor on the iPad.

Push mail still works on devices with iOS 18.3.1. It's not optimal, but at least 90% of emails arrive via push.

With 18.3.2, maybe 10% of emails arrive via push. But it's totally unreliable.

I use Apple Mail and Fastmail.

I use Apple Mail and Fastmail. Both exhibit the same behavior.

iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 18

Apple Support blatantly denied this issue existed on Friday (14th), and advised me to use another email client like Outlook if I weren't satisfied with the “rate of push” – and that “it takes as long as it takes for emails to arrive” – even though I said it is likely a iOS18.3.2 issue. Rolling back to iOS18.3.1 resolved the issue completely.

I am happy to say that after applying iOS18.5, all my mail issues have been resolved. Notifications, with sound, are working as expected.

After applying the update, I did go into my mail app notification settings and changed my sounds to a new sound, then back to my desired sound in both the Alerts and Customized Notifications settings. I then did a soft reset (volume up, volume down, press the side button until the Apple logo appears) in case that was needed to re-initiate my desired preferences. Those steps may not be required.

Same issue - have to set mail app to fetch mail now (was on automatic) to receive emails unless the app is open, the icloud servers are not pushing emails out (thats my opinion anyway) only seems to of happened since March update - surley the amount of icloud mail users apple realise there is an issue ?????????????? frustrating as I have gone to the trouble of changing all my info over to iCloud mail from Outlook.com, which was never an issue with receiving mail

After applying the 18.4 update, new mail is now in my Inbox, but I don't receive a mail notification or sound on a locked screen (evening though this setting is enabled) nor when the Mail app is open does it play a sound when I receive a new mail banner notification.

I've noticed an extra message when I open the Mail app since applying the 18.3 update: "Connecting...." Either this "Connecting" process is ignoring the sound notification features (all are enabled with an Apple provided sound) or some other bug has been introduced. I've seen this reported by users in Reddit as well. I'm hoping for a 18.4.1 or 18.5 update to resolve this critical function.
